CRASH by VENUS

Instagram Vimeo Linkedin CRASH https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIaYVNd8030 CRASH is the first music video from Tatum Miranda (aka VENUS)’s debut album, “Sub Rosa” and explores the cat and mouse game of toxic love… just in a world of spaceships and lizard aliens.  Inspired by vibrant colors of retro space operas, this Flash Gordon-esk adventure was crafted to match the high energy and intensity of Venus’ song… with a “Star Wars” reference or two thrown in for good measure. When this video was made, I had only created one animated short, but Tatum was adamant I create the visuals for her song and I’m grateful she believed in me. LIVE GIF

Instagram Vimeo Linkedin LIVE.GIF https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sUKHlvrpfE Two buddies, Chad and Jon (played by real life buddies Chad and Jon) try out the newest fad… LIVE GIFing.  You know, it’s like a GIF… but in real life.  Of course, as will happen with memes, the boys get a little carried away. This film asks serious questions, like given life’s endless cycle of growth and decay, are we all just stuck inside a giant GIF?  Actually, the film doesn’t ask any such questions… it’s just silly fun on repeat.  What could be more profound than that? TIL DEATH DO US PART

Instagram Vimeo Linkedin TIL DEATH DO US PART https://vimeo.com/33514849?fl=pl&fe=sh Based on a story by Allyssa Brooke and James Knight, TIL DEATH DO US PART is an irreverent romantic comedy about how crazy love can make us.  Bridget’s OCD drives her less-than-attentive husband David up the wall.  That is, until she discovers she is terminally ill and decides to live with reckless, fun abandon.  But when David learns Bridget’s life-ending diagnosis was incorrect, will he tell her and risk ending Bridget’s new exciting persona… or will he selfishly hang on to the lie?  “Love is a disease that will make you crazy,” or so they say. BOYS IN THE HOOD

Instagram Vimeo Linkedin BOYS IN THE HOOD https://vimeo.com/19694117?fl=pl&fe=sh The award-winning dark satire BOYS IN THE HOOD tells the tale of Jim Bedford, a friendly young man forced into the KKK by his moronic father Nathan, just as he falls head-over-heals for Mehgna, daughter of the local Indian family.  As Jim struggles to hide Mehgna and his family from one another, he learns what it means to love, to hate, and how most people fall confusingly in the middle. Inspired by the ruthless comedies I grew up watching like “South Park” and “Blazing Saddles,” this cartoonish “Romeo and Juliet” retelling is admittedly uneven at times.  That said, I stand behind the message of universal acceptance – and my cast and crew’s daring and dedication to realizing the film forever has my admiration.  Produced as my MFA thesis film in 2010, BOYS IN THE HOOD’s satire is not merely still relevant, but rather tame compared to reality.
